Weekend TV: 'Blue Bloods,' 'The Good Wife'

CBS, Friday, 10 ET/PT

Fox has football, so Friday's best series, Fringe, is still on break. But ABC and CBS are airing all-new lineups, which include an outing of Blue Bloods that finds a distracted Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) struggling to catch a serial killer while worrying about an accident that has sent his son to the hospital. Blue Bloods may never be a critical favorite, but any show that keeps Wahlberg on the air has that at least going for it.

The Good Wife
CBS, Sunday 9 ET/PT

Good times may be here again on broadcast TV's best drama. When we left in December, we seemed to be finally and blessedly Nick-free - and while it's true we were never told what happened to Kalinda's widely hated husband, meaning he could still return, we're just going to assume the writers are too kind and too smart to take us down that road again. And if that isn't good news enough, look at the lineup of guest stars the show has for Sunday's winter return: T.R. Knight as a new member of Peter's political team; Nathan Lane, who has been a terrific addition as the firm's bankruptcy overseer; and Michael J. Fox, with another go as the firm's most cunning legal nemesis.

Happy Endings/Don't Trust the B….

666 Park Avenue fans really are going to believe their show is cursed. First it gets canceled, then its remaining episodes get shelved for a later date, replaced by new outings of these two ABC sitcoms. An unhappy ending indeed.
